Install Ad Blocker

Yahoo uses Flash for some of their Adverts and parts of their groups. We have had issues with people thinking that the plugin has "hung", when in fact it is the Flash player which is having problems displaying the Yahoo ad.

We recommend that you consider installing an ad-blocker. But think about it first:

• This will both speed up page loading, and reduce the chances of getting a "hung loading".
• On the other hand, Yahoo makes money from people clicking on its advertisements, so unless you're very very sure that you'll never do that, by installing an Ad-Blocker you're arguably undermining the revenue model that we're relying on to provide us with a free service.

Many people use AdBlocker Plus from the Mozilla add-ons site, but different people have different preferences.

Once it's installed, configuration may be required, but you will need to check each package's installation instructions.
