Freegle Direct

This page only applies to Freegle groups.

Freegle Direct (a.k.a. the Republisher) supplements your Yahoo group in a number of ways:

• You can get a much better interface for members to use, on Freegle's servers and/or Facebook.
• You get better email digests.
• You get the function to chase up members to post TAKEN/RECEIVED mails or to easily repost.
• It suggests messages members might be interested in.

You can find out more about this by asking on Central.

This affects the modplugin in a number of ways.

Memberships

The Republisher maintains a list of members which it has seen posting on your group, but it can't directly know when Yahoo or email members have left or been removed, so it might continue to send them email notifications or reminders. You can manually remove members here but it's better to do it automatically.

When you first use the modplugin on a group you will get a prompt to allow this:

You can also get to this from Options->Freegle Options.

Here you can configure:

• Whether to do this upload. You don't have to, but it's recommended.
• How frequently to do it. 24 hours is fine.
• Whether to send a trial digest to members currently on Yahoo's Daily Digest. They can turn it off if they don't want it, but this is an easy way to revitalise those members.

Maps and Auto-correction

These are both done using Freegle's servers rather than the modplugin itself, which means the results will be better.

Categories

You will see item categories in Pending. Correcting these will make the categorisation more reliable.
