Checking for duplicates

The plugin can help you spot repeat postings, by checking the subject line against recent messages.

Configuring it

You configure this on the Checking tab:

The summarise posts function also needs to be on in order for the plugin to flag duplicate posts, see here.

What you see

Duplicates are flagged below the message, and you can see the suspected message by moving your mouse over the warning:

This only spots repeat postings by the same member - a member with a different Yahoo id submitting the same message wouldn't be flagged.

Checking Possible Duplicates

For a message to match as a duplicate, the subject has to be exactly identical. The possible duplicates function checks to see if a high proportion of the words in subject lines are the same, to spot cases where a member posts effectively the same request, but slightly differently phrased. As you might expect, sometimes this works and sometimes it doesn't.
